Lighting is first and foremost an art. The way something is stitched together may represent the penultimate in craftsmanship, but it is the choices – and only the choices - that elevate that craftsmanship into art.
How people experience an event and consequently how people perceive that event’s messaging is largely a product of how people feel. How people feel is largely a product of the lighting that they’re in at that particular moment.
